Google on Wednesday at the I/O event has officially unveiled the Pixel Watch that has been heavily leaked before. Along with the announcement, Google also teased the upcoming Pixel 7 series.

The Pixel Watch will be Google’s first wearable that features a circular, dome-like core design, a ‘tactile’ crown, and a side button.

The frame is made of recycled stainless steel and proprietary bands are swappable. The watch runs on Wear OS 3 with a ‘refresh UI’, better navigation and smart notifications.

Google also confirmed the Fitbit integration which means users may be able to monitor heart rate, track sleep, and view ‘active zone minutes.’

Despite Google’s acquisition of Fitbit for USD 2.1 billion, Google’s senior vice president of devices and services Rick Osterloh said that Google and Fitbit data will stay separate due to promises made to regulators during the acquisition. Which means that any health data collected on the Pixel Watch will remain under Fitbit’s scope.

In hindsight, the Pixel Watch is a ticket to a wider Google or Pixel ecosystem. However, just like the Pixel 7 series, the Pixel Watch was only teased to the public during the I/O event. Thus, further details about its specs, pricing, and availability are not yet out.

Speaking of the Pixel 7 series, Google has released its early renders. The device will be equipped with a “new generation of Google Tensor and a sleek design.”

Based on the renders, the phones will have an updated camera cutouts from the current Pixel 6 series, but with the same number of cameras: dual and triple setups for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, respectively.

The renders also suggest that Google may have removed the two-tone finish on the back panel, the aluminum seemed to extend on the camera module, and the absence of the pink color from among the variant choices, but it is compromised with a faint green-like one.

The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro is slated to launch in September later this year along with the Pixel Watch. And again, no further details if the smartphones and the smartwatch will also be officially released in the Philippines.
