Grass fires knocked down in Colorado Springs


COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Fireplace Division (CSFD) reported three grass fires burning in Colorado Springs.

CSFD posted concerning the a number of fires on Twitter. The primary was reported simply after 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday on the east aspect of I-25 simply north of the MLK Bypass. The hearth burned half an acre earlier than being knocked down. The trigger is unknown.

Two extra grass fires had been reported close to Platte and Powers in addition to Platte and Wooten. The hearth close to Wooten was extinguished rapidly.

The Cimarron Hills Fireplace Division (CHFD) Tweeted that eastbound Platte was closed resulting from poor visibility from smoke. The hearth at Platte and Powers was knocked down rapidly, CHFD mentioned, and crews are mopping up.

Eastbound Platte reopened shortly earlier than 5p.m.
