Kansas City Mavericks tab Lane Scheidl captain, host Wichita


Lane Scheidl is the Kansas City Mavericks’ team captain for the 2021-22 season. He has scored a team-high four goals this season.

The Kansas City Mavericks are 2-2, sixth in the ECHL’s Mountain Division through four games this season and with three more games lined up for this week — starting with a home game against the Wichita Thunder.

Weekend recap

The Mavericks welcomed the Allen Americans to Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence Saturday night and won 7-5. Forward Jake Bricknell scored his first professional goal and had a Gordie Howe hat trick.

The Mavs then traveled to Wichita on Sunday and lost 3-1.

Upcoming games

The Mavericks play host to the Thunder on Tuesday at Cable Dahmer Arena. Toys for Tots will be on-site collecting new and unopened toys before the game.

The Mavs journey to Tulsa on Friday to face the Oilers before heading to Allen, Texas, for a Saturday game at the Americans.

Veteran’s Day observance

The Mavericks will attend the Black and Veatch Veteran’s Day Event on Wednesday from noon-2 p.m. at the T-Mobile Campus.

Captaincy announced

Lane Scheidl has been selected as this season’s team captain, with teammates Darik Angeli, Willie Corrin, Ryan Harrison and Shawn Weller serving as alternate captains.

“Lane possesses a tireless work ethic and great understanding of what it takes to be successful at the pro level,” coach/GM Tad O’Had said in a statement.

In his second season with the Mavs, Scheidl has scored 28 goals for a total of 55 points in a KC uniform. He has a team-high four goals this season and is tied with Darik Angeli for the team lead in points, with five.
