Malacañang declares May 3 a national holiday for Eid’l Fitr

Malacañang has declared May 3 as a national holiday in observance of the Eid‘l Fitr, the tip of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Government Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed this on late Sunday evening, May 1 by means of a textual content message to reporters.

It got here after the declaration of the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’, the Islamic spiritual authority within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Area in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) that Eid’l Fitr or the Feast of Breaking the Quick will probably be celebrated on May 2.

In response to Sheikh Abuhuraira Udasan, government director of the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ and Bangsamoro Grand Mufti, the moon crescent was sighted when a moon sighting was performed on Sunday, May 1—the twenty ninth day of Ramadan.
