Soka Performing Arts Center postpones concerts through late February – Orange County Register

The Soka Performing Arts Center in Aliso Viejo has postponed three upcoming live performances in late January because of the prevalence of the omicon variant of the coronavirus. .

Hub New Music with special guest Kojiro Umezake on Jan. 22 has been postponed to a date to be announced. The Jan. 29 date for the Elvin Bishop & Charlie Musselwhite Duo and the Jan. 30 recital by pianist Stephen Kovacevich will take place on future dates in the 2022-2023 season.

“Soka University has made the decision to remain closed to the public, and in alignment with that decision, Soka Performing Arts Center is postponing our scheduled concerts until the end of February,” General Manager and Artistic Director Renee Bodie said in a prepared statement.

The next event still scheduled at Soka will be the veteran band Los Lobos on Feb. 26.

Meanwhile, the online calendar for Musco Center for the Arts on the Chapman University campus in Orange is showing postponements of two upcoming performances, comedian John Leguizamo on Jan. 30 and the multi-discipline “The Just and the Blind” scheduled for Feb. 24.  Both are now aimed for dates to be announced in the 2022-2023 season.
