Wolves predicted line-up and injury latest ahead of Manchester United clash

Manchester United are back in action at Old Trafford against Wolves on January 3 as they look to carry their winning form into 2022.

Ralf Rangnick’s side put in their most comprehensive display of the German’s tenure with the 3-1 win over Burnley on Thursday.

The Reds raced into a three-goal first-half lead thanks to Scott McTominay and Cristiano Ronaldo, while Ben Mee inadvertently put Jadon Sancho’s effort beyond Wayne Hennessey.

They welcome Bruno Lage’s Wolves to Manchester as they return to action after seeing two of their matches over the festive period falling foul of injuries and the coronavirus.

Monday’s clash will see them in action for the first time since their goalless draw with Wolves in mid-December.

Lage’s side are severely depleted through injuries as no fewer than six will miss the trip through knocks alone.

Promising striker Fabio Silva is a doubt for the clash after he tested positive for COVID.

Full-back Jonny will miss out after suffering a knee injury, he has yet to return to first-team training but the Portuguese manager admitted he is “close”.

Meanwhile, threatening attacker Hwang Hee-Chan is sidelined after suffering a thigh injury in their win over Brighton.

His absence will be felt, as they’re due to be without him until February.

Wolves will be missing another full-back option as Rayan Ait-Nouri continues his recovery from a reported muscle problem. They will also have to prepare without Willy Boly who remains out for the foreseeable future with a calf injury.

Pedro Neto remains one of the long-term absentees as he recovers from a knee injury.

United will be hoping to continue their ruthless streak and make an easier task of Lage’s side than they did at the end of August where Mason Greenwood’s late goal was the difference.

Predicted Wolves XI: Sa, Kilman, Coady, Saiss, Hoever, Neves, Moutinho, Marcal, Jiminez, Trinaco, Jimenez, Traore.
